Pensando ai ricordi dei momenti più significativi con il Ferro mi sono accorta che sono sempre associati anche alla Rita perché da quando sono entrata nella loro vita li ho quasi sempre visti in coppia... una coppia di esempio per tutti, uniti, ironici, fedeli, disponibili e accoglienti verso tutti.
Ricordo tutti i Natali a casa loro in cui si prodigavano tutta sera nel servirci un sacco di cose buone (nonostante si iniziasse sempre con il dire che si sarebbero mangiati solo gli avanzi del pranzo!!) e il Ferro ha aiutato la Rita anche questo suo ultimo Natale, fino alla fine!
Un ricordo un po' più datato e che mi fa ancora sorridere è quando una sera Ferro ha raccontato che una ragazza aveva fatto un po' la furba con lui, la Rita ha fatto capire chiaramente che la cosa l'aveva infastidita e lui l'ha tranquillizzata con un sorriso rassicurante dicendo che per lui ci sarebbe stata sempre solo lei e che non si sarebbe mai dovuta preoccupare del contrario... che dire, oltre alla tua adorata famiglia dai un occhio da lassù anche a noi amici che ne abbiamo tanto bisogno! Ti voglio bene!!

Ferro veniva a pregare con Rita in San Zenone.
E noi abbiamo avuto il privilegio di conoscere la sua fede nelle sue parole, nei suoi gesti (si è sempre seduto a terra nonostante gli inviti di Rita ad accettare lo sgabello ) ma soprattutto nei suoi lunghi silenzi adoranti. Veniva nei momenti ordinari e in quelli delicati, in quelli di decisione e in quelli di svolta e ogni settimana in questi mesi di malattia.
La sua era sempre una preghiera grata ma non era una preghiera che si accontentasse.
Era evidente che veniva per farsi dilatare il cuore dal Signore.
Veniva per rimanere aperto alle necessità degli altri, per ostinarsi a pregare nell'ordinario: terra- terra. ( anche quando, anzi proprio quando si ha bisogno di un'altra per rialzarsi);veniva per continuare a stupirsi di come la sua vita fosse bella e perché noi guardandola con lui dicessimo insieme "è proprio bella!"
